How fan made content makes every game special

With more than 1000 board games released every year and an increase from year to year of at least 25%, nowadays there are more board games on the market than ever before and it becomes increasingly difficult for publishers to make a mark and get a game at the top of the gaming preferences of thousands of players. Difficult, yes, but not impossible. With solid design, outstanding art and that bit of passion, anyone can gather fans and enjoy the thought of their game finding place in gaming nights of players all over the world.

As a designer, I have no greater joy than to see one of my games discussed, played, even criticized and most of all adapted to become the jewel of the collection of any gamer. If that game is Exodus: Proxima Centauri, it gets even better because so far this is my favorite child of mind, the game I put the most work and passion into.

Long story short, Abdul Fatah a.k.a hang jebat on BoardGameGeek has created an amazing system to store game components of Exodus: Proxima Centauri together with Edge of Extinction expansion and he shared his work with everyone. The pictures below show how to make such custom boxes every step of the way.

I am very grateful to see such passion and I must admit that seeing Abdul’s photos made me fast track Exodus: Event Horizon. Together with Rainer, we are almost ready to bring Exodus: Event Horizon (the final expansion of Exodus: Proxima Centauri) to life, hoping to bring more gamers and fans into the Exodus universe.
